Alien Sex Fiend

Can I just say that this group is one of the most interesting bands that I've come across thus far? First of all, just attempting to look them up on the Net is a hassle. It was as if Yahoo was too scared to bring up the site. I had to go through another gothic music site in order to even find their album list. What you scared of, Yahoo? Google? It's just music. Nothing that soothes the soul, nothing quiet and pleasant, nothing to put you to sleep though, dear iTunes. I find interesting that you "lose" the connection when I attempt to look up Alien Sex Fiend in your database. How dull. I can find Android Lust and Siouxsie and the Banshees, but not Alien Sex Fiend? Get over it. True, their album covers are a little on the eccentric side, but that's no reason to be scared. Ahh, conformists. Will you never learn to open your eyes?

Hello and Welcome

I decided to write this blog as I am starting to come into my own as a Goth. Recently I have found my niche, if you will, as a Goth and I am quite happy with my choice. In fact, I don't even think that I had much to do with it myself. As a Wiccan, I find myself intrigued by the dark side of the Craft. What I mean is the dark Gods and Goddesses, like Kali, Hecate, Hera, Cerridwen, Set, the Winter King, Osiris, Anubis, and those like them, not the Left Hand Path. However, the dark is not something to be afraid of. It should be embraced and at least attempted to be understood. As I stated before, I am just beginning to come into my own in this culture and I find it intriguing and exciting. I am changing my wardrobe, but as a full time social worker, it can be pretty challenging finding ways to incorporate my Gothic tendencies into my work dress. I haven't done too much shopping as far as clothes, I'm still looking around for the best deals as I am a bargain hunter and love finding the better option, but I have brought some nice pieces to wear. A corset here, a waist cincher there and I'll be in business. LOL. (That's right, Goths can laugh.) Besides darkening my nails and makeup, no one at my workplace raises an eyebrow and I've actually had a few compliments. I do have to say that I am in love with Alchemy Gothic's jewelry line, but I do find unique pieces here and there, like on Ebay and Hot Topic. As I go along on my Gothic journey, I will definitely post little tidbits on shopping, designers, music, makeup and hair ideas, especially for all my fellow African American Goths. I know it can be hard to be in a minority and then be part of a subculture that is a minority in itself. However, we are out there and we do exist, so don't fret.
